the HW-586 Battery Capacity Tester is a precision instrument designed to measure the true "health" and energy storage of various batteries.
The HW-586 is a digital discharge meter that tests battery capacity by applying a controlled load through external resistors.
Verification Tool: Perfect for spotting "fake" high-capacity batteries that don't live up to their labels.
Support for Multiple Chemistry: Test everything from a single 1.2V Ni-MH cell to a 12V Lead-Acid battery.
Real-Time Data: The LED display cycles through three critical values during the test: Current (A), Voltage (V), and Capacity (Ah/mAh).
Auto-Recognition: The smart firmware can automatically suggest a safe termination voltage based on the battery it detects.
Error Code Protection: Includes built-in safety codes (Err1–Err4) to alert you if the battery voltage is too high, the load is incorrectly wired, or the battery is too weak.
To get an accurate reading using your Electrapac tester, follow these steps:
Preparation: Fully charge the battery you wish to test.
Connection: Connect the battery to the "Positive" and "Negative" terminals. Connect the provided load resistors to the "R" terminals.
Power: Plug in a Micro USB cable (5V) to power the board.
Set Termination: Press the "+" or "-" buttons to set the voltage at which the test should stop (e.g., 3.0V for a standard 18650).
Start: Press the "OK" button. The display will begin flashing the data as it discharges the battery through the resistors.
Finish: When the test is done, the display will stop flashing and show the final capacity in mAh.
18650 Harvesting: Sorting healthy cells from old laptop batteries for DIY power walls.
Quality Control: Checking that new bulk battery shipments meet their rated specifications.
Lead-Acid Testing: Checking the health of UPS or small vehicle batteries.
Circuit Troubleshooting: Identifying high-resistance batteries that cause voltage sag under load.
Educational Labs: Teaching students about the relationship between voltage, current, and energy over time.
We source the HW-586 with high-tolerance resistors to ensure your capacity readings are consistent and reliable. At
