Reliable CMOS Technology: The PT2272 is a low-power, high-noise-immunity decoder IC designed to pair specifically with the PT2262 encoder for wireless remote control applications, High Security Coding: Features up to 12 tri-state address pins, allowing for hundreds of thousands of unique code combinations to prevent interference or unauthorized access, Decoded Data Outputs: Capable of outputting up to 6 data bits, which can be used to trigger relays, LEDs, or microcontrollers based on the received RF signal. The PT2272 Remote Control Decoder is the essential counterpart to the PT2262 encoder, forming a reliable wireless "handshake" for security and automation systems. At Electrapac, we recommend this DIP-18 IC for makers building wireless receivers for garage doors, home lighting, and DIY remote-entry projects.
The PT2272 is a CMOS LSI remote control decoder that receives an encoded signal from an RF receiver module (like a 315MHz or 433MHz unit) and checks it against its own hard-wired address.
Secure Tri-State Addressing: Like its encoder sibling, each address pin can be set to "High," "Low," or "Floating," providing massive security against "code grabbing" or interference.
Momentary vs. Latch Modes: Depending on the specific suffix (M or L), the IC can either pulse the output (Momentary) or keep it on until the next signal (Latched).
Valid Transmission (VT) Pin: Features a dedicated "VT" pin (Pin 17) that goes High only when a valid, matching code is received—excellent for triggering an external buzzer or LED.
Wide Voltage Tolerance: Operates comfortably between 4V and 15V, allowing it to be powered by common batteries or a regulated 5V breadboard supply.
High Noise Immunity: The CMOS design ensures that the decoder won't be easily "tripped" by ambient RF noise from other electronics.
Wireless Doorbell Systems: Building custom chimes with long-range RF modules.
Smart Home Switching: Using a remote to toggle AC appliances via a relay module from Electrapac.
Anti-Theft Alarms: Creating wireless "tripwires" that alert a central hub when a door is opened.
Remote Gate/Garage Openers: Repairing or upgrading older wireless entry systems.
Industrial Control: Remotely starting or stopping machinery from a safe distance.
We source the PT2272 (IC0166) with precision-timed CMOS logic to ensure a stable wireless lock even in environments with high RF traffic. At
