The HW-298 DC-DC Step-Down USB Charging Module is a high-performance buck converter designed specifically for modern fast-charging needs. With its wide input range and multi-protocol support, it turns any DC power source into a smart, high-speed mobile charger. Read more
The HW-298 QC3.0 Fast Charging Step-Down Module is a high-efficiency power regulator designed to convert high-voltage DC power into a smart USB charging port. At Electrapac, we recommend this single-port module for compact builds where you need a reliable, high-speed charging interface for modern smartphones and tablets.
The HW-298 is a specialized Buck (Step-Down) Converter that supports multiple fast-charging protocols. Unlike a standard 5V regulator, this module communicates with your device via the USB data lines to "negotiate" the optimal charging voltage. It can automatically shift from 5V up to 12V to deliver the fastest charge possible while maintaining high energy efficiency.
Universal Protocol Support: Compatible with QC3.0 and QC2.0, as well as Apple, Samsung AFC, Huawei FCP, and Mediatek PE+ standards.
Smart Voltage Adaptation: Once a fast-charge compatible device is connected, the module increases the voltage to reduce "cable loss" and speed up the charging process.
Highly Efficient Buck Circuit: Because it uses synchronous rectification, it generates significantly less heat than linear regulators (like the 7805), making it perfect for small, enclosed spaces.
Comprehensive Protection: Features input over-voltage/under-voltage protection, output over-current protection, and short-circuit protection to keep your Electrapac projects safe.
Wide Input Range: Ideally suited for 12V car batteries, 24V truck systems, or 18V–24V solar panels.
To install your HW-298 module safely, follow these connection steps:
Input (IN+ / IN-): Solder your DC source to the clearly marked pads.
Tip: For 12V fast charging, your input must be at least 14V.
Mounting: The module is incredibly slim, allowing it to be mounted behind a car dashboard or inside a custom-designed 3D-printed housing.
LED Indicator: The onboard LED lights up to show that the module is receiving power and ready to charge.
Heat Management: Under full 24W load, the module may become warm. Ensure there is some clearance around the board for natural air cooling.
Automotive Charging Ports: Adding a modern QC3.0 port to older cars, motorcycles, or boats.
Solar USB Chargers: Directly converting the output of a 12V or 18V solar panel to a safe USB charge.
Portable Power Stations: Integrating a fast-charging port into your DIY 18650 battery bank builds.
RC Field Gear: Powering and charging tablets or action cameras from a 4S or 6S LiPo battery.
IoT Projects: Providing a high-current 5V source for power-hungry devices like the Raspberry Pi 4.
We source our HW-298 Modules with high-quality inductors to ensure the voltage remains stable even during the rapid switching of fast-charge protocols. At
