The XL4015 5A Adjustable Buck Converter is a powerful step-down module designed for applications requiring higher current than standard regulators. Whether you are building a laboratory power supply or a high-power LED driver, the XL4015 provides a stable and efficient solution. Read more
The XL4015 5A DC-DC Step-Down Buck Converter is a high-power, high-efficiency adjustable voltage regulator. At Electrapac, we recommend this module for projects that outgrow the common LM2596, as the XL4015 offers a significantly higher current capacity (5A) and better thermal stability for demanding electronic loads.
This Buck Converter is a non-isolated step-down module that uses a fixed 180kHz switching frequency. It is designed to take a higher DC input and "buck" it down to a lower, stable DC output. Its standout feature is the 5A output capability, which allows it to power high-torque motors, large LED arrays, and battery-hungry devices that standard 2A or 3A modules cannot handle.
High Efficiency (96%): Minimizes energy loss as heat, allowing for a smaller footprint and longer battery life in portable Electrapac setups.
Precision Multi-turn Trimpot: The blue potentiometer allows for fine-tuning the voltage to 0.1V accuracy.
Low Output Ripple: Provides "clean" power (<50mV ripple), making it safe for sensitive microcontrollers like the ESP32 or Raspberry Pi.
Large Power MOSFET: Unlike smaller regulators, the XL4015 chip features an integrated power MOSFET that runs cooler under moderate loads.
Built-in Protection: If the module gets too hot or a short circuit occurs, it will automatically reduce its frequency or shut down to prevent damage to your equipment.
To get the most out of your Electrapac buck module, follow these steps:
Wiring: Connect your power source to IN+ and IN-.
Calibration: Connect a multimeter to the output terminals.
Clockwise: Increases the output voltage.
Counter-clockwise: Decreases the output voltage.
Voltage Gap: Remember that the input voltage must be at least 1.5V to 2V higher than your desired output.
Heat Management: If you plan to draw more than 3A or 50W continuously, stick the included aluminum heatsink onto the main XL4015 chip.
Automotive Electronics: Stepping down a 24V truck battery or 12V car battery to 5V for USB dash cams and chargers.
High-Power LED Drivers: Providing a constant voltage for 10W–50W LED chips.
Battery Charging: Use it as a regulated source to charge lead-acid or lithium battery banks (with external monitoring).
DIY Bench Power Supply: A cheap and effective way to build an adjustable power station for your workbench.
Solar Systems: Regulating fluctuating voltage from solar panels to a stable 12V or 24V rail.
We test our XL4015 Buck Modules to ensure they meet the full 5A peak current specification without premature failure. At , we provide the heavy-duty power modules that keep your high-wattage projects running smoothly.
