The DS18B20 Waterproof Temperature Sensor Probe is a highly accurate, digital thermometer designed for challenging environments.
Unlike analog sensors that can suffer from signal degradation over long cables, the DS18B20 is a Digital Sensor.
Waterproof & Durable: The stainless steel housing is rust-resistant and thermally conductive, ensuring quick response times while keeping the internal electronics dry.
1-Wire Daisy Chaining: Because each DS18B20 has a unique 64-bit serial code burned into it at the factory, you can connect multiple sensors to the same single data pin on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
No External Components: It can be powered directly from the data line ("Parasite Power mode"), though for stable industrial use, we recommend a standard 3-wire setup.
Digital Precision: Since the output is digital, there is zero signal loss over long distances (up to 50m or more with proper pull-up resistors).
Wide Compatibility: Works seamlessly with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, and Raspberry Pi using widely available libraries.
The Electrapac DS18B20 probe typically follows this standard color-coding for its 3-wire interface:
Red Wire: V_cc (Power, 3V–5V)
Black Wire: GND (Ground)
Yellow (or White) Wire: DATA (Digital Signal)
Pro-Tip: To enable communication, you must place a 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor between the Data wire (Yellow) and the Power wire (Red). Without this resistor, the microcontroller will not be able to "read" the digital pulses from the sensor.
