Product Overview

The NEO-7M is built around the advanced u-blox 7 positioning engine. It is a multi-GNSS module, meaning it can track various satellite constellations including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS, ensuring a stable "fix" even in challenging urban environments.

  • Dual Antenna Support: Comes with an on-board high-gain ceramic patch antenna for standalone use and an SMA connector for attaching an external high-gain antenna for better reception inside vehicles.

  • Built-in EEPROM: Allows you to save configuration changes (like baud rate or update frequency) so they persist even after power-off.

  • Signal Indicator: Features an on-board LED that flashes when a satellite fix is successful, providing instant visual feedback.

  • Backup Battery: Includes a small rechargeable battery to store "ephemeris data," which enables Hot Starts (re-acquiring your location in seconds after a brief power loss).

  • NMEA Protocol: Outputs standard NMEA sentences, making it compatible with almost all GPS software and libraries (like TinyGPS++).

Connectivity Guide

The module uses a simple 4-pin or 5-pin header for easy wiring:

  1. VCC: Connect to 3.3V or 5V.

  2. GND: Connect to Ground.

  3. TXD: Connect to the RX pin of your microcontroller.

  4. RXD: Connect to the TX pin of your microcontroller.

  5. PPS (Optional): Pulse-Per-Second output for high-precision timing applications.
