The High-Sensitivity Sound & Voice Detection Sensor Module is an acoustic-to-digital converter designed to detect ambient noise and human speech. At Electrapac, we recommend this module for makers and electronics hobbyists in Bangladesh who are building "clapper" switches, voice-activated lighting, or security alarms that trigger when a window breaks.
Product OverviewThis module features a high-sensitivity Electret Microphone paired with a precision LM393 voltage comparator. It can detect sound waves through the vibration of the microphone's internal diaphragm and convert them into an electrical signal. Unlike a simple microphone, this module includes an on-board adjustment system, allowing your Arduino to ignore background hum and only react to specific loud noises like a clap or a shout.
Adjustable Sensitivity Threshold: Features a multi-turn blue potentiometer. You can calibrate the sensor to trigger only for very loud noises (like a knock) or very quiet sounds (like a whisper).
Clean Digital Signal: The on-board comparator chip filters out electrical noise, providing a stable HIGH/LOW signal that microcontrollers can read without needing complex debouncing code.
Dual LED Indicators: Includes a Red Power LED to show the board is active and a Green Status LED that flashes the exact moment a sound is detected.
Plug-and-Play Compatibility: With a simple 3-pin interface (VCC, GND, OUT), it is compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and PIC microcontrollers.
Lightweight Mounting: Includes a pre-drilled M3 mounting hole, making it easy to attach to a wall or inside a robot's "head" for voice interaction.
Setting up the Electrapac Sound Sensor is straightforward for any DIY project:
VCC: Connect to 5V or 3.3V.
GND: Connect to Ground.
OUT: Connect to an Arduino Digital Pin (e.g., Pin 2).
Calibration: Power the module in a quiet room. Rotate the potentiometer until the "Status LED" just turns off. Now, clap your hands; the LED should blink, signaling a successful trigger.
Primary ApplicationsPro-Tip: If you want to use this for a "Clap-to-Light" switch, use a small delay in your code (e.g.,
delay(500)) after the first detection to prevent the echo of the clap from triggering the switch twice.
Voice-Activated Switches: Turning on a fan, light, or TV by clapping your hands or shouting a command.
Security Systems: Triggering a silent alarm if a loud noise (like a door being kicked or glass breaking) is detected at night.
Interactive Robotics: Making a robot stop moving or turn its head toward the source of a loud sound.
Noise Level Monitoring: Lighting up an LED "Warning" sign if a classroom or library becomes too noisy.
Smart Home Automation: Automatically turning on hallway lights when footsteps or the sound of a door opening is detected.
We source our Sound Detection Modules with high-gain electret microphones to ensure a wide detection radius and consistent performance across various temperatures. Visit us at www.electrapac.com for the audio-sensing components that give your projects the ability to listen.
