The Voice/Sound Detection Sensor Module is a high-sensitivity microphone-based sensor designed to detect environmental noise, voice, or specific sound triggers. Whether you're building a "clap-on" light or a security system that reacts to loud noises, this module provides a simple and effective solution. Read more
The Voice/Sound Detection Sensor Module is an efficient and easy-to-use acoustic trigger for your electronic projects. At Electrapac, we recommend this sensor for hobbyists building "Clap-to-Light" switches, noise-activated alarms, or interactive robotics that need to react to environmental sounds.
This module utilizes a high-sensitivity capacitive electret microphone to detect sound waves. The signal is processed by an onboard LM393 voltage comparator chip.
Adjustable Sensitivity: Features a multi-turn potentiometer.
Instant Digital Trigger: The digital output (OUT) can be connected directly to an Arduino pin or even a relay module, allowing for "microcontroller-free" sound-activated circuits.
Dual LED Feedback: Includes a power indicator and a dedicated signal LED that flashes the moment a sound is detected, making calibration fast and simple.
Low Power Consumption: Optimized for battery-powered applications, drawing minimal current while in "listen" mode.
Universal Compatibility: Works perfectly with all standard logic levels, including 3.3V (Raspberry Pi/ESP32) and 5V (Arduino/8051).
Setting up the Electrapac Sound Sensor is a simple 3-wire process:
VCC: Connect to 3.3V or 5V.
GND: Connect to common ground.
OUT: Connect to a Digital Input pin (e.g., D2 on Arduino).
Pro-Tip: To calibrate the sensor, stay in a quiet room and turn the potentiometer until the Green signal LED just turns off. Then, clap your hands; the LED should flash. If it stays on constantly, the sensitivity is too high; if it never flashes, the sensitivity is too low.
Clap-Activated Switches: Turning on a lamp or a fan with a simple double-clap.
Smart Security Alarms: Triggering a siren or a camera if a window breaks or a door is forced open.
Interactive Toys: Building a robot that turns its head or moves toward a voice.
Noise Level Indicators: Creating a visual "Quiet Zone" sign for libraries or classrooms that lights up when it gets too loud.
Rhythm-Sync Lighting: Making LED strips pulse in time with a loud music beat.
